Homestead Barrel Proof Bourbon (97)

Oh man, there’s some fire in that nose. But past the burn—which is all in the nose, nothing on the palate—it’s all bourbon, all the time. Very sweet but not at all syrupy (really, how could it be?) But for how smoothly it goes down and weighing in at a whopping 131 proof, it’s a mite dangerous. Be warned.

Rattray’s Selection 19-Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky (98)

This is a blend of four different sherry-finished single malts—and I love sherry-finished single malts—but quite peaty. But it’s not a harsh, smokey peat and has some nice fruity notes to it so I still found it quite enjoyable.
