Pritchard’s Double Chocolate Bourbon Whiskey

Chocolate bourbon. No, really:

Chocolate.

Bourbon.

Huh.

It really could’ve jumped either way. Could’ve been fantastic. Could’ve been awful. It. was. fantastic.

To start, neat it tastes like any other good bourbon, a little sweet, a little caramel, a little vanilla but no discernible chocolate either in flavor or nose. Adding ice brought out the chocolate, first in the nose and it was really strong there but no matter how much it opened up it was never more than an aftertaste of a sip. It would pop up, three or five or seven breaths later, just about when I’d forgotten that there was supposed to be chocolate in there somewhere. I want to say almost playful.

Really, really nicely done. I want a bottle.

Yep, I keep telling all my whisky-loving friends about this one and they're like WHAAAT and I'm like no really! It was GOOD! And it didn't actually taste like chocolate!
