Me, looking over my glasses: You know how if you leave dishes with egg on them out, it turns into glue and makes them awful to wash?

Me: [purses lips]

Her, sidling toward the kitchen looking guilty: Yeah…

Her: Oh. You ran water in them! Thank you!

Me: Yeah, I figured the menacing, over-the-glasses look would be scarier than the object lesson would be effective.

Her: Yup.

I can picture you giving that look. It would certainly inspire me to rinse out the dishes.

I shot that look at my dad when I caught him attempting something just outside of his approved activity range during surgery recovery*. It worked. Surprised us both, I think.

* Amusingly enough, it was almost the inverse of this: doing dishes.
