Chieftain’s Caol Ila Single Malt Scotch Whisky St Etienne Rum Finish 14-year

Woof. There’s so much peat in there the rum can barely breathe. It’s doesn’t mingle well but sort of just sits off on its own whispering.

Caol Ila Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 12-year

This was the surprise of the set. Peaty yes, but not bitter and became quite agreeable as it mellowed with time and ice.

Had we not watched the bartender pour this, I would’ve thought he got them backwards. This was so peaty and so astringent and so strong that it felt like it was burning off my nostril hair two exhales later. This is some seriously powerful stuff.
