These weren't actually sampled on the same day but they were both recommended by the same person. Just now, when deciding whether or not to pair them for this entry, I realized that I'd had them back to back but several days apart. Funny how sometimes the brain imposes order without checking in with you first.


Michter’s Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey

Oh, that’s a sugarbomb. Interesting with the addtion of ice. Instead of bringing the sweet, caramel, vanilla out, it seemed to mitigate that and bring up the spicier, dryer elements.

Goldrun Rye California Whiskey

Tried on the urging of a friend who said it smelled like freshly-baked rye bread. Absolutely true. And tastes like it, too. It has a sort of warm, soft, vaguely sweet, yeasty quality to it. Quite nice.
