So it seems I’m a Willett girl as well as a Balvenie girl. I love, love, loved the 4-year and asked for a tiny bit of that to compare. The 10-year starts off stronger, spicier, more of a kick up the nose and goes through a wider range of flavors—almost including those of the 4-year—with the additions of ice and time. Very nice.

Sazerac Rye, Straight Rye Whiskey
Aug. 27th, 2013 09:42 pmSweeter than I expect out of a rye but just as much spice and some pepper too. Has a bit of a… licorice? anise? finish that makes it a little contrary to my palate but still tasty.
In the background is the Fog’s End Monterey Rye which was actually the whiskey on special this month but I’d already tried it so I sampled something else.
